Heaven on Earth is a committee dedicated to serving the homeless by providing meals and essential items on a weekly basis. We also embark on mission trips to Lebanon and Fiji, offering aid and support to those who are less fortunate than us.
A memorable incident occurred with Fr Robert-Pio not long ago. It was a cold, rainy and windy night a couple of weeks ago, where he felt the urge to go see a lady who sleeps at Parramatta Park, “my heart messaged my conscience telling me she was cold and wet.” It was midnight when he got to her and she was indeed fully wet. He gave her a sleeping bag and some blankets to warm her up and her reply was “It’s okay Father, I’m used to it”.
She politely asked him “Can you afford to get me something to eat? I’m hungry.” All she wanted was McDonalds, her favourite to eat.
While our chimneys and heaters are warming our homes throughout this winter and every winter, let’s get out of our comfort zones and reach out to those who our Lord asks to love as much as He loves us.
“Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and will be repaid in full.” (Proverbs 19:17)
